Industrial Microwave Paper Drying is a processing method for pulp and paper operations using cardboard and specialized corrugated papers. IMS technology improves energy efficiencies, increases production speeds, and improves moisture-levelling control. Our microwave systems offer unique, full-scale solutions to commercial paper makers and pulp manufacturers. IMS regularly works with processors of continuous sheet products and conveyed beds of materials.
Microwave Paper Drying: Case Study
A major US manufacturer needed equipment that would quickly and uniformly dry a coating applied to its paper product. After several in-house product trials, this customer purchased two IMS high speed 2450 MHz microwave dryers for commercial production of the special paper. This would be virtually impossible to accomplish with any other design.
In addition to increasing speed and reducing overall drying time, the patented IMS applicator design eliminated hot spots and provided a more uniform procedure than previously experienced with the customer’s conventional heater.
The IMS applicator contains and distributes the microwave energy around the product. Industrial microwave paper drying minimizes the risk of over drying or marring the surface of the product. The advanced industrial microwave paper drying technology developed by IMS allowed the MW energy to be increasingly absorbed in areas with higher moisture content.
