Industrial microwave drying is a technique used by material processors that are looking to evaporate water from their products or materials. Here at IMS, we develop several different types of industrial microwave drying systems. We often work with manufacturers and processors of building materials, foam, carpet, fossil fuels, agricultural materials, and more.
Industrial Microwave Drying:
IMS Technology
Our technology focuses on efficient microwave generation, tailored to the application, and bringing more control to your process. When compared to other conventional drying technology, microwaves tend to work faster with more efficiency. Uniquely, we offer industrial microwave dryers in both single and multi-mode configurations. In our multi-mode systems, units come equipped with 2 high-power rotary feeds (one top, one bottom) to enhance energy distribution.
Other technology highlights and options include:
- Options for 2450 and 915 MHz
- Legacy systems from FMT & IMS
- Standard and modularized options
- In-house customer product testing lab
- Experience with food and non-food products
- Custom modelling and cavity development for new applications
- Single-mode, multi-mode, continuous, high moisture applicators, and more
Common Drying Applications
Industrial microwave drying is frequently utilized on food products and in materials processing applications. Typically, the systems or related microwave solutions we offer depend largely upon the application and its drying requirement.
Below is a list of common applications in which industrial microwave drying proves beneficial:
FOOD PRODUCTS | INDUSTRIAL MATERIALS |
---|---|
Seeds | Rope |
Pulses | Foam |
Grains | Carpet |
Spices | Powders |
Breads | Pulp and Paper |
Cereals | Lumber and Wood |
Peanuts | Biosolids and Biomass |
Snack Foods | Textiles and Nonwovens |
Bakery Products | Fossil Fuels (Oil and Coal) |
As part of our ongoing R&D, we have an in-house testing station to explore new potential applications for microwave drying. We also offer in-house customer testing. We welcome anyone interested to visit our facility to test their products. Alternatively, we’re happy to receive product and test it for you. After testing, we’ll report the results back to you.
